Principles of Internal Medicine
This index allows the palmtop user to quickly
access reference information on pathophysiology,
clinical presentation, diagnosis, and treatment
of many common disorders. The index may
be purchased for $86.50 through the site,
and occupies 962KB of memory space.
iScribe
Another high-quality electronic prescription
service, available for both the Windows
CE and Palm OS platforms.
MedCalc
This freeware program is designed to allow
rapid calculation of common equations
used in the practice of internal medicine.
Formulas and clinical scores that can
be tabulated using this program include
body mass index, iron deficit, cardiac
output, IV drip rate, total body surface,
and much more. Most units may be freely
converted from SI to metric equivalents
and vice versa.
MobileMedData
The MobileMedData stores extensive patient
records for instant access via a palmtop
computer. For every patient, maintain
a complete history including test results,
medication usage, treatment plans, and
encounter notes. The Enterprise version
of this system was designed to facilitate
shared information by multiple users,
and is ideal for group practice, HMOs,
and the like. Available for $130.
Pocket
Procedures
Pocket Procedures is a procedures-tracking
software that allows the user to enter
two procedures per patient, along with
up to three findings, location, role, and
the name of the attending physician. This
shareware program is available for free;
the company requests a $5 donation if you
enjoy using it.
RiskyDisky
RiskyDisky uses the modified Gail Model
and Risk/Benefit Index to predict the
five-year risk for breast cancer and
consequences of five years of tamoxifen
therapy. It uses the Claus Model to predict
risk based on family history alone, and
the Frank Model to predict odds of BRCA1
and BRCA2 mutations. RiskyDisky is available
for $19.95.
STAT
Growth Charts
This program calculates growth percentiles
based on the June 2000 revision of the Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention growth
charts. Enter age in years and months using
the pop-up lists, along with weight, height,
and head circumference. If head circumference
is included, HC-Age percentile is presented.
If no head circumference is input, BMI-Age
percentile is calculated.
