Jonathan M. Bertman, MD 
Dr. Bertman is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Brown University. He is the founder and president of two successful Internet companies, one providing an EHR solution to more than 1,000 small- and medium-sized practices (AmazingCharts.com) and the other providing patient information on sensitive healthcare topics to more than 500,000 people a month (AfraidToAsk.com). Dr. Bertman is in private practice in Hope Valley, Rhode Island.

Larry Chu, MD, MS
Larry Chu is a senior anesthesia resident
at the Stanford University School of
Medicine. He co-founded the MedWorld
project, an early innovator in developing
WWW-based tools for medical education,
at Stanford University in 1995. He
is also a co-founder of Savvyhealth,
Inc., a San Francisco-based health
technology company.

Daniel Hier, MD
Dr. Daniel B. Hier is a graduate of Harvard
College and Harvard Medical School.
He completed his medical internship
at the Bronx Municipal Hospital and
his neurology residency at the Massachusetts
General Hospital. He completed a two-year
clinical and research fellowship in
stroke and behavior at the Massachusetts
General Hospital. He is currently Professor
of Neurology and Rehabilitation, Professor
of Bioengineering and Head of the Department
of Neurology and Rehabilitation at
the University of Illinois at Chicago.
He serves as Neurologist-in-Chief and
Physiatrist-in-Chief for the University
of Illinois Medical Center. His clinical
interests are in stroke, dementia,
and multiple sclerosis, and his interest
in research lies within health informatics
and functional brain imaging. He is
the author or co-author of 100 papers
in peer-reviewed journals.

Ira Katz, MD
Dr. Ira Katz comes to MD Net Guide as an
Adjunct Professor in the Department
of Psychiatry at the Medical College
of Pennsylvania and a Professor of
Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania.
An internationally recognized expert
in geriatric psychiatry with a specialization
in the relationship between mental
and physical co-morbidity, Dr. Katz
is the Director of the Section of Geriatric
Psychiatry at University of Pennsylvania
and Director of Geriatric Psychiatry
at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center.
Dr. Katz also serves as the Principal

Neil A. Mehta, MD, MS
Dr. Neil Mehta is an internist with joint
appointments in Division of Education
and Information Technology Division
at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
He is Director of the Center for Online
Medical Education and Training (COMET)
whose interests include teaching evidence-based
medicine (EBM); use of computers and
the Internet in the education of patients,
medical students, house staff and the
continuing education of physicians;
use of web-based survey tools for automation
and streamlining of data collection
for research projects; and studying
the role of computers and the Internet
in health care and educating patients
and physicians about it. He has been
a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine
at the College of Medicine of the Penn
State University since 1995 and an
Associate Professor at Ohio State University
School of Medicine since 1999. He is
an associate editor and reviewer, Cleveland
Clinic Journal of Medicine, reviewer
for the Annals of Internal Medicine, reviewer
for the Journal of General Internal
Medicine, and an editorial board member
of Medical Matrix.

Holly Miller, MD, MBA
Currently the Director of Clinical Internet Systems at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Miller shares responsibility for the development of Internet strategy. Dr. Miller supports the development of e-health initiatives for e-Cleveland Clinic, the e-business organization of The Cleveland Clinic as Director of e-product development. She maintains a practice in the Department of General Internal Medicine. Dr. Miller has more than five years of experience in Medical Informatics; she was formerly a product manager for a medical software company.
Holly D. Miller, M.D., MBA has multiple responsibilities within the Division of Information Technology at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation. As Director of Clinical Internet Systems, Dr. Miller develops Internet strategy at The Cleveland Clinic. In her role as Director of e-Product Development, Dr. Miller supports the development of e-health initiatives for e-Cleveland Clinic, the e-business organization of The Cleveland Clinic Foundation. She is an Associate Staff physician and practices in the department of General Internal Medicine.
Dr. Miller has over 8 years experience in Medical Informatics and is a frequent presenter at national meetings on health care and technology. She was formerly a Product Manager for a medical software company. She also is active in healthcare informatics research. Dr. Miller, an American educated and trained physician, previously lived in Europe where she had multi-faceted experiences as a Project Manager in the Pharmaceutical Industry, leading phase III and IV research trials; and as the Chief Resident at the American Hospital of Paris. She completed her MBA at one of the leading business schools in France.

Gary Stephen Nace, MD
G. Stephen Nace, MD, is an Assistant Professor
of Clinical Medicine at the University
of Illinois College of Medicine in
Peoria, IL. His clinical research interest
is the development and implementation
of database tools to improve patient
care. He maintains The Doctor's Page
(www.doctorspage.net), a website with
a wide range of resources for practicing
physicians.

Daniel Z. Sands, MD, MPH
Dr. Danny Sands is an internationally recognized
lecturer, consultant, and thought leader
in the area of clinical computing and
patient and clinician empowerment through
the use of computer technology. He
is Director of EPR and Communication
at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center
in Boston, where he has worked since
1991. He earned his baccalaureate at
Brown University, medical degree at
Ohio State University, and a master’s
degree at Harvard School of Public
Health. He did residency training at
Boston City Hospital and an informatics
fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess
Medical Center. He is an Assistant
Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical
School and is a primary care internist
who uses computers extensively in his
practice. In 1998, Dr. Sands received
the President’s Award from the
American Medical Informatics Association
(AMIA) in recognition of his leadership
in co-authoring the first national
guidelines for the use of e-mail in
patient care. Since 1998, he has maintained
the Electronic Patient Centered Communication
Resource Center at
www.e-PCC.org. Dr. Sands was the scientific
chair of the AMIA Spring Congress 2002
on the topic of medication informatics
and is a member of the AMIA Board of Directors.

Eric G. Tangalos, MD, FACP,
AGSF, CMD
Dr. Eric Tangalos is Professor of Medicine
and Chair of the Division of Community
Internal Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in
Rochester, Minnesota. He is also the Co-Director
at the Robert and Arlene Kogod Program
on Aging. Dr. Tangalos received his undergraduate
training from the University of Michigan,
is a graduate of the Loyola University
Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago,
and was a resident and fellow in Internal
Medicine at Mayo Clinic.
